Number of Openings 1 Job Description Provides quality loans for the company by underwriting and evaluating mortgage loan applications. Reviews and verifies all items provided by the borrowers and ensures that they meet the Fannie Mae and FHA required guidelines. Ensures that all investor guidelines as well as Federal guidelines are met. Underwrites loan files that fall out of the automated project plan. Provides a second layer of quality control to ensure that the liability taken on by the company will not result in a non-saleable loan.
Functional Responsibilities: Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the daily operations of the underwriting department within a given branch office, or is responsible for an operations segment of the regional or national Underwriting Department, including monitoring credit policy and procedures, updating and creating procedures and ensuring timely and accurate underwriting decisions. Recommend updates and changes to policies and procedures and ensure the department is in compliance with those policies and procedures. Perform periodic audits on underwriter's decisions and underwriting queues. Maintain an ongoing and thorough knowledge of the loan process including a complete understanding of all processes and systems; liaison with Sales and Operations to resolve customer service and operational issues; assures that the credit quality of the portfolio remains within standards established by senior management. Performs other related duties as assigned and required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Full people management responsibility, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. 6-8 yrs in the mortgage industry within the underwriting field.
