Job Descriptions:

GENERAL PURPOSE
TelePacific Communications ISP requires in its Core IP Engineering team an experienced network engineer to join a team of highly skilled IP/IPv6 engineers to work in a fast paced and very challenging technical environment.

Works under the supervision of Manager – IP Core Engineering

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Engineer scalable, functional and efficient IP/IPv6 networks which meet or exceed Tier1 service provider standards.
* Develop detailed implementation plans, and guide operational engineers with configurations and actual implementation on production network.
* Manage and plan for network growth, and work within annual network budget.
* Lab testing and simulation of network scenarios.
Required Experience:

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

* Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university.
* 6-8 years of IP/IPv6 network engineering experience with at least 4 years of network design experience in a medium to large size ISP.
* Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Minimum of professional level vendor certification like CCNP or CCDP, expert level certification like CCIE or JNCIE will be a strong plus.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* Strong engineering and operational experience in large Service Provider networks
* Extensive knowledge and practical experience with routing protocols BGP, OSPF, ISIS and EIGRP.
* Extensive knowledge and practical experience with technologies like MPLS, VPLS, MPLS VPNs and Traffic Engineering.
* In depth knowledge of IPv6 protocol, IPv6 routing and experience in implementing IPv6 in service provider environment or large enterprise.
* Hands on and extensive experience with Cisco IOS and or IOS XR, Juniper Network JUNOS, high end routers and Ethernet switches like Cisco GSR 12n00 series and/or ASR series, Cisco 6500 series and Juniper EX, M and MX series.
* Ability to plan for network growth, network forecasting, capacity planning and identification of problems before they occur.
* Good presentation and communication skills.
* Ability to simplify complex network scenarios and train engineers and provisioning staff.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
* There will be a lot of time spent working in the lab and setting up the lab for network R&D.
* Limited travel at short notice.

* PC, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office including Visio.
