If you answered "YES, yes I am!", here is what Freeman is looking for: The Manager of carpentry will manage the carpenter shop team and paint shop to ensure jobs are completed in an efficient, safe, accurate and timely manner. Also responsible for monitoring departmental budgets/costs/materials by project. Other responsibilities will include: * Manages the carpentry team including performance appraisals, hiring, firing, merit increases. * Manages the carpentry of all types of shop materials to produce orders including graded lumber, plywood, PVC, laminate and acrylic like materials. * Communicates with all sales departments on work orders. * Creates bids which price out materials and labor accurately when requested for projects. * Set's priorities and meets deadlines on all in-house work tickets, utilizing as much straight time as possible. * Coordinates with Operations Manager the purchase of bulk material and keeps shop adequately stocked for the varying schedules. * Evaluates new equipement and constantly determines the most current technology and to keep Freeman's shop on the cutting edge of technology. * Seeks out and test's new materials that can reduce costs. * Ensures that projects are managed properly and executed as planned using the most effeciecient materials and labor with minimal mistakes. * Determines sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, router projects and erection of structures. * Understands how to read blueprints and shop drawings and CAD details to determine dimensions of structure. * Develops and maintains proper inventory levels to ensure material levels are availabe during all times of years. * Negotiates vendor pricing and store fronting inventory levels as needed. * Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. * Implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. * Schedules all personnel on CAP and is comfortable using Kronos to review and approve timecards. * Coordinates/oversees the scheduling of the paint shop and graphics shop as needed. * Delegates work to outside subcontractors when needed due to work load. * Meets all production deadlines on time or before due dates. * Holds safety meetings to ensure that all equipment meets OSHA safety requirements, and all personnel operate machinery safely. * Submits weekly pre-shift safety training talks to Operations Manager and Safety department. * Maintains equipment service schedule for all critical pieces of equipement where quarterly scheduled services take place including but not limited to; air compressor, router tables, panel saws, table saws, roll coaters, uv dryers and paint spray booth Now that you know what this position does, do you have the background to do the job?Required Skills
Required Experience * High School Diploma or Equivalent * Five (5) years carpentry shop experience plus Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience preferred * Must have a good working knowledge of all Carpenter and paint shop equipment (C&C Router, Beam Saw, UV inks and UV Dryer) * Must have the ability to perform job-costing analysis * Dependable, self-motivated, detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple tasks * Strong attention to detail for carpentry and custom project work * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications * Welding experience helpful but not required * Must be able to manage a fast-paced team due to high volume of production orders and short lead notices * Must be experienced in the use of power tools and wood working machinery * Must be able to read and understand shop details, drawings and prints * Must have a working knowledge of acrylics and acrylic construction * Must have a working knowledge of plastic laminated Preferred Experience: * Trade School experience is preferred Ready to manage your next career move?
